30th Annual Parade Promises Festive Fun
By Scott Soldat-Valenzuela
There's nothing like a good parade to kick off the holiday season. The annual Thanksgiving Day parade, themed "Frosty & Friends' in Fountain Hills promises that and much more!
A hometown parade is truly a celebration of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness with a twist of comedy, hokey and fun.
The list of characters and organizations in the 30th annual parade is reason enough to attend. From Town Council members, the high school basketball team and Rotarians to the River of Time Museum, the Fountain Hills Automobile Club and a large number of local businesses. The list totals over 70 floats, cars, groups and civic organizations.
At a time in history when much is dividing Americans on national and global stages, let's set aside our political agendas and enjoy the celebration of Thanksgiving in the beautiful desert with our incredible weather–unlike our friends and families back east who are shivering in snow and cold.
Thanksgiving has religious roots but today is often a celebration of appreciation for the preceding year. There's much to be thankful for in Fountain Hills and across our incredible State.
Chamber of commerce weather is expected on Thanksgiving morning for the 9am Parade but be sure to wear something warm because temps will be in the 50s.
The parade begins at the corner of Saguaro and El Lago and ends around 10:30 at the corner of La Montana and Park View. A map is available on the Chamber's website at www.fountainhillschamber.com.
