Minimum wage pro leader speaks to Chamber

Leader of the minimum wage debate in Arizona, Bill Scheel, to speak at the Fountain Hills Chamber public policy meeting. 

According to the campaign, Arizonans who work hard and play by the rules should be paid a wage that can support their family. The November ballot initiative from Arizona Healthy Families Initiative provides a gradual increase to Arizona’s minimum wage and provides workers with earned sick days. 

The initiatiave filed on July 7 includes the following increase schedule:

• $10 on and after January 1, 2017
• $10.50 on and after January 1, 2018
• $11 on and after January 1, 2019
• $12 on and after January 1, 2020

Bill Scheel has worked in Arizona politics for almost 30 years, beginning with Bruce Babbitt’s 1982 re-election campaign and currently serving as the campaign manager for Fred DuVal’s Gubernatorial campaign. Previously, Bill served as Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon’s top political strategist and chief of staff. In that role he steered the groundbreaking 2006 Citizens Bond Program to victory, which included $230 million for a downtown Phoenix ASU campus, University of Arizona Medical School, and small high schools, as well as the 2008 renewal of the Phoenix Parks and Preserves Initiative.
